AHHH!!! Beirut! Yes.
I remember the moment I found this band. I was in the big record store here and I saw a review tacked on the wall. One of the staff had highlighted "NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL" and that immediately caught my eye. I listened to Gulag Orkester and it was one of the few records I actually paid real honest money for last year.
It was also, sadly, one of the actual cds stolen out of my car this summer (along with Neutral Milk Hotel "Aeroplane"... I was seriously bummed). I replaced it with the vinyl LP version.
I haven't heard Neutral Milk Hotel yet, but I've heard a lot about them.
Sorry you CDs got stolen. That happened to me several years back (a whole book of CDs) and I still haven't replaced them all.
Do you like the Heartless Bastards? They're one of the few groups I saw live this year, and it was great. I almost bought their vinyl at the show, but I was a bit short on cash.
i heart 'falling slowly.' i got the once dvd for christmas and am going to watch it over and over again.
in completely unrelated news, i had a dream last night that you and i were hired assassins and sent to italy to kill a mob boss. our biggest concern was exactly how we were to get the gun on the plane.
when are you going to be back in knoxvegas? i want to see you before i leave.
